Animals have always been the heartbeat of my life. Dogs, ferrets, and every creature I’ve been lucky enough to care for have given me a connection that’s real, grounding, and healing. They’ve carried me through chapters that weren’t easy — long stretches of depression, the daily realities of living with MS, and moments where life felt heavier than I could hold alone. Their presence didn’t just comfort me; it kept me going.

I eventually decided to leave the tech industry as it was morphing into something I no longer recognized — something I wasn’t. After layoffs and mental health issues, I took it as the sign I needed to finally shift my life toward what mattered most: animals, compassion, and hands‑on care. Instead of screens and systems, I chose purpose, connection, and the work that feels honest.

As part of that shift, I began working part‑time at the Everett Animal Shelter. It’s not my whole life, but it’s an important piece of it — a way for me to directly support animals who need stability, patience, and a gentle hand. Being there reminds me why this path matters: every scared, stressed, dog trying to trust again reinforces my commitment to showing up in a real, tangible way.

Today, I care for animals the way I wish every animal could be cared for. My dogs are my partners in life. My ferrets free‑roam, explore tunnels, dive into rice pits, splash in water play, and sleep in elevated nesting boxes instead of cages. Every pet I work with gets the same level of attention, respect, and joy.
